CATCHY SAYINGS FOR THE MONTH

Now for some spiritual snacking......

Happiness depends on happenings, but joy depends on Christ.

Compassion will cure more sins than condemnation.

An unguarded strength is a double weakness.

There is an Indian proverb or axiom that says that everyone is a house with 4 rooms, a physical, a mental, an emotional and a spiritual. Most of us tend to live in one room most of the time but, unless we go into every room every day, even if only to keep it aired, we are not a complete person.

Our hope in God pulls us into the future. Hope allows us to affirm the reality of the abundant life that is ours in Christ. Hope allows us to stand with those in pain and to hold them until they are able to feel the love of God for themselves again. Hope allows us to work to bring God's reign upon the earth even when we see no results. Our hope begins and ends in God, the source of all hope.

Whate'er we leave to God, God does and blesses us.

There is nothing so healing in all the world as real presence. Our real presence can feed the ache for God in others.

The question we must ask our heart is, "Am I comfortable under the eye of God? Or is God getting too close?" We are strange and lovely creatures. We can ache for God tremendously yet find ourselves gettting nervous if God gets too close. After all, the closer God gets, the more we hear the call to be divinized. It is both exciting and frightening to hear that call.

The greatest of all visions is to see Christ, indeed, to see God, in the frail and glorious human family of the world.

God does not ask your ability or your inability. He asks only your availability.

You will never stand alone while standing on the Word of God.

Faith in faith is faith astray.

This is a wise, sane Christian faith: that a man commit himself, his life, and his hopes to God; that God undertakes the special protection of that man; that therefore that man ought not to be afraid of anything.

True faith is never found alone; it is accompanied by expectation.

Every person born in this world represents something new, something that never existed before, something original and unique.

The really important thing in life is not the avoidance of mistakes, but the obedience of faith. By obedience, the man is led step by step to correct his errors, whereas nothing will ever happen to him if he doesn't get going.

When we travel life's roads with those we love, the point of destination is always secondary to the quality of the journey.

God's preparation for greatness in His Kingdom is often filled with difficult preparation.

To God, our journey is as important as our destinations.

A crushing hurt comes to our heart and the sympathizing, scarred hand of Christ presses the wound; and just for a moment, the pain seems to intensify,...but finally the bleeding stops.

The Christian's hope for the future must have a sanctifying influence upon the present.

The human race is divided into two classes — those who go ahead and do something, and those who sit still and inquire, "Why wasn't it done the other way?”

There is a time to let things happen and a time to make things happen.

The great thing to remember is that, though our feelings come and go, His love for us does not.

What you are is God's gift to you, what you become is your gift to God.

Faith is not the belief that God will do what you want. It is the belief that God will do what is right

God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him.

When you are in the final days of your life, what will you want? Will you hug that college degree in the walnut frame? Will you ask to be carried to the garage so you can sit in your car? Will you find comfort in rereading your financial statement? Of course not. What will matter then will be people. If relationships will matter most then, shouldn't they matter most now.

We have a right to believe whatever we want, but not everything we believe is right.

There is no greater discovery than seeing God as the author of your destiny.

Yes, if truth is not undergirded by love, it makes the possessor of that truth obnoxious and the truth repulsive.

Unless I understand the Cross, I cannot understand why my commitment to what is right must be precedence over what I prefer.

I am absolutely convinced that meaninglessness does not come from being weary of pain; meaninglessness comes from being weary of pleasure. And that is why we find ourselves emptied of meaning with our pantries still full.

But life's joys are only joys if they can be shared.
